Dick Welles* Selections At Bowie GOLDEN PENNANT— GOLD COIN-PAT McGEE. The opening race is for the baby racers and GOLDEN 1KXNAXT is the one looked upon as the most likely winner. His last start at Howie found him finishing second to his stablemate, Florian. It may be that he will run more kindly over this course. GOLD COIN and PAT McGEE are entered as the Sagamore Stable entry, and on reports they should prove dangerous competitors. COLD COIN has had some fast morning trials and should he run to those works will be well up at the finish. PAT McGEE also has a fine turn of speed and should go well. LORD BALTIMORE II.— LUPINE— TELIRIDE. The second race is over the three-quarters mile distance and a bulky field is in prospect, for no less than twenty were entered. Inless there is some wholesale scratching the race should go to the one fortunate enough to get out in front so as to avoid the inevitable crowding which will very likely result. LORD BALTIMORE IX, when in a "running mood, usually gets off in front and for that reason is liked to win this number. LUPINE is also a speedy front runner and may get the place money. TELlRIDE won an easy race in his last start at Bowie and the same effort today would find him well up at the finish. TIM MARA— HARASS— ROCK MAW. The Tip Top Purse, to be run as the third event, brings together some first-class three-year-olds, and it should afford some line on the prospective Kentucky Derby starters. TIMMARA, which won his two Bowie races with ridiculous ease, is the one expected to be returned the winner. HARASS, the Miami sensation, did not fare so well in the Inaugural at Bowie but is looked to do much better here. ROCK MAX has not been to the races this year and has been rather slow in rounding to form. He held his own with the juvenile stars of last year and if he has kept that form will prove a dangerous contender. He is most certain of landing in the money and it would not be surprising should he be the one to cop. TDGELLER— TESTER— LIEUTENANT II. An excellent race is in prospect in the fourth, known as the Chester Purse. The Bedwell owned CUDGELLER is the one ex- pected to be the winner. He finished third in all three of his Bowie starts and should now be in top form. In his last out, he was leading to the stretch but could not stick it out and was beaten by half a length. TESTER showed well in his two Bowie starts and on those races is looked to take the place money. LIEUTENANT II. was a little short in his only start this year but is expected to show to better advantage today. SINGLE FOOT— JOY SMOKE— NOAH. Twenty high-class handicap performers were named to contest for the 0,000 added Harford Handicap which features today*s card. SINGLE FOOT is asked to carry top weight of 124 pounds, and with the race he had at Bowie is the one best liked to win. In his last start he was just a little short but the race is said to have done him a world of good and It reported to be right on edge at the present. JOY SMOKE is more of the distance running type of a horse but he will give the winner plenty of trouble. His last race last year was a win over the renowned Princess Doreen. NOAH is to carry 121 pounds but on his Bowie races this should not prove too much for him. He won his j | last race carrying 126. He is a speedy front I ! runner and this may put him in good stead ; ! as the field promises to be a large one. BLUE HILL— CLIQUE— KANDUIT. BLUE HILL won his last race at Bowie by two lengths and if he were to run the same today would be an easy winner of this race, the sixth. He will have 11 pounds off his last start, and with this added advantage should prove the easiest kind of a winner. CLIQUE is gradually getting into winning form and will be heard from in the race. His chances look good for getting the place. KANDUIT has been showing plenty of speed in his morning workouts and a race to those trials would find him close up at the finish. DREAM OF THE YALLEY— MODESTA— MARY ELLEN O. DREAM OF THE YALLEY ran a good race his last out when he finished third to Miss Rosedale and Scorcher. He was off none to well but made up ground fast and at the finish was only beaten by a couple of lengths. MODESTA and MARY ELLEN O. appear to be the ones most likely to finish second and third. The former usually runs his best over a fast course and should do well here.
