QUEENS PLATE AT OMAHA Attracts Large Field and Crowd Crowdat at AkSarBen Track Pirate PirateGold Gold the Winner OMAHA Neb June 9 The AkSarBen Queens Plate which featured todays pro ¬ gram at the Omaha course attracted the largest field that has ever taken part in a contest in this vicinity and it was a real horso race all the way Pirate Gold which was running coupled with Centimeter as the Clem entry was the winner and his stable companion was third Lord Julian the fa ¬ vorite was the one to split them Pirate Golds margin at the end was two lengths and he ran a good race to obtain it He worked his way through the bunch at the stretch turn and passing Centimeter easily held Lord Julian safe The latter as was the case the other day was on the outside most of the way but he closed like a real thoroughbred and would probably have beat ¬ en the winner had the distance been a mile Centimeter showed that he is fast returning to his best form by his splendid performance Publisher finished fourth The winner was decorated with a beautiful floral horseshoe after the running of the event eventA A very large crowd was present to witness the running of the big event and racing sec ¬ retary Trimble came in for much praise for producing such a fine field of thoroughbreds for the race raceThe The first favorite of the afternoon got home when Karonga which was oddson choice made good in the third The win ¬ ner did not give her backers much cause for anxiety as she rushed to the front before the field had raced far and opened up a good lead She was tiring at the end but those behind her were not capable of overtaking her Tubby A finished second and Waldout third thirdAl Al Hotfoot wore down Ramble in the stretch run to take the honors in the fourth The winner was off last but gained steadily and a strong finish won him the victory Ramble had practically no opposition for second while Viola Burton outgamed Don K for third place The winner paid liberal odds oddsRoyal Royal Kiss carried the colors of W J Potter to an easy victory in the opening dash She showed much improvement over her yes ¬ terdays form and was always close to the pace and catching the leaders tiring easily drew out in the final sixteenth Wikiup Pajwose took second place and Ben Kripp was third Furious Bill and Mary Dear were the fa ¬ vorites in the second race but they were a triHe behind their field when the start cainu and as both are front runners their chanccH were practically nil when they could not get to the front Baleful was winner of this dash He raced close to the leaders from the start and was several lengths in advance ot Stamp at the end Mahaley the pacemaker lasted for third
