Dick Welles Selections SelectionsAt At Aurora COUXTESS CIAKIDOE DAITOX C T AVOKTHIKGTOX AVOKTHIKGTOXTlie Tlie races for today were filled to over ¬ flowing in most every event the fifth being the only exception as only six were entered The usual limit of seventeen is entered in the opener Avhich brings out a bad lot to contest over the five and a half furlongs distance Basing on present form COUNT ¬ ESS CLARIDGE seems to have the best chance In her only race here she ran good enough to land in third place behind Aris ¬ totle and Red The same race today against this lesser company should find her leading the way home DALTON managed to get in the money on a few occasions at Akron and a race back to that form would very likely give him the place here C 1 WORTHINGTON is reported in good condi ¬ tion right now and for that reason we are giving him the call for the show end of the purse purseTAMEA TAMEA FLYING HIGH CUBAN FLAG FLAGMaiden Maiden twoyearolds are to show their wares in the second number a dash of four and a half furlongs It is expected that the limit number of starters will be seen in action here as no less than sixteen were entered TAMEA from the stable of C IT Trotter seems to have the most impressive record and if she races as she did in a couple of her races here may be the one to knock down this purse FLYING HIGH is well liked by his connections and a race back to her workouts would very likely find her close up at the finish CUBAN FLAG is tagged for the show on her races at Havana and Akron She has not done much since arriving here but at the latter courses was always close to the leaders leadersGALA GALA TI A XL AXON L AYINI A AThe The third is to be run over the Exposition Course distance and a real good play is spotted in GALATIA This filly has had but one race here when she made Rosamond do her best to beat her by half a length We think that race should have done her a world of good andl expect her to get out in front today to lead all the way If our informa ¬ tion is right KLAXON is going to get a slice of the purse He has had a long rest since the Havana meeting and is said to be ready for a winning effort at this time The Jim Gaffncy mare LAVINIA has been entered on several occasions but has yet to face the starter here If her trainer decides to start her today she should have some ¬ thing to say about the race She is partial to the muddy going but can also step on a fast track MAUDE HARVEY has shown flashes of speed at times and she may be able to get in the payoff position at the windupGILMORE windup GILMORE GREETS IIILL HIGH CARP CARPThe The mile of the fourth should prove easy for GILMORE He dope as the best play on the card He has had plenty of racing here but just recently got into winning stride He knocked off his race before last and then came back to lose a tough race to Rocking He has been pitted against better company than he meets here and for that reason we think he should not have much trouble in scoring GREEN HILLS has been in the money in four of his six races and he needs but to run as well to get the place here He is not the racer GILMORE is but seems to be the best of the others HIGH CARD graduated from the nonwinners ranks Monday If he races as kindly today he may be able to account for the small end of the purse purseCARTOOX CARTOOX 40HXXY JEWELL BOLTOX BOLTOXSix Six of the better grade of racers were entered in the headliner the Sugar Grove Purse at a mile under allowance conditions CARTOON which accounted for the Joliet Handicap some time back is our selection to cop honors here He surprised everybody on that occasion then came back and lost two in row He has l een working satis ¬ factorily since then and we are expecting him to redeem himself for those defeats JOHNNY JEWELL made good in his last asking but at the end was giving his all to stave off the rush of Brownie Smile That race was a little above his average and think the best he can get here is the place BOLTON the Boots Durnell racer ran well enough in his last out to give him the show here Were he of the more con ¬ sistent type we would be compelled to place him on top but unfortunately he is not notJJEMIJOHX JJEMIJOHX SAX SAX LEOXTES LEOXTESWe We are picking DEMIJOHN to slam back the big field which will very likely oppose him in the sixth He appeared to be short of a winning effort in his last try and after being closest to the leader in the stretch dropped back and finished well beaten The race should have served as a tightener and we are expecting him to show to much better advantage today SAN SAN won his last out over the Exposition Course distance and how he will fare over the longer route is problematical LEONTES ran like a tramp in his last appearance and can do much better If he runs as he did in his race before that ho should be able to account for the show money here INVICTUS is show ¬ ing improvement and may land in the money moneyBOBBIE BOBBIE SHEA LOXDOX SMOKE DESPAIR DESPAIRThe The concluding race is at a mile and an ¬ other large field will be seen in action BOBBIE SHEA dopes to win this heat His only two races here saw him finishing fourth in each event but they were good races for him If he shows any improvement at all over those races he should be the win ¬ ner The twotime winner LONDON SMOKE is in good condition at the present and he is bound to make the race inter ¬ esting but we dont think he is good enough to run his score to three in a row DES ¬ PAIR is making his first appearance here he last being raced at Churchill Downs He comes from a smart stable and that he will be ready for his best effort is a fore ¬ gone conclusion If rain should happen to visit these parts before post time for this race and make the going muddy our selection would immediately shift to BAB ¬ BLING This one is a mudder of the supe ¬ rior type but dont look for her to get much on the firm footing One Best Bet GILMORE in the Fourth Race
