TRANSFER RLBAKER MARES Foals Also Sent to Saghonet Farm at Lexington Horses Jfow In Training at Chicago to B Divided and Sent to Washington WashingtonPark Park and Omaha LEXINGTON Ky May 17 Col IL I Baker today made arrangements to transfer all of his brood mares and foals to Charles H Berrymans Saghonet Farm They are located at present at four places and he de ¬ sires to have them concentrated at a good establishment establishmentSaghonet Saghonet Farm is on the Paris pike be ¬ tween the Lexington Country Club and Longridge Farm It Is the home of Ballot and Thunderer and It was there that Sir Harry and a number of other good horses including Captain Mack were foaled foaledMr Mr Berryman has a good organization and since he leased a portion of Longridge Farm he has an abundance of acreage He said today that he is negotiating for another farm In Woodford County on which he can take care of a large number of additional thoroughbreds thoroughbredsWhiskery Whiskery winner of the Kentucky Derby and Bostonian winner of the Preakness Stakes were bred at Harry Payne Whit ¬ neys Farm here while the establishment was under Mr Berrymans management managementMajor Major Louis A Beard last year took over the management of the Whitney Farm but he kept Jimmy Haynes in charge of the breeding department and that was in the estimation of local breeders a wise decision for there is no more capable man in that respect than Haynes who began his experi ¬ ence as a boy in the elder August Belmonts Nursery Stud Haynes next worked for the late Marcus Daly at his famous Bitter Root Ranch in Montana then came to Mr Berryman when he was manager of the late James P Haggins Elmendorf Farm and then went with him to the Harry Payne Whitney establishment when it was opened on a part of the land that formerly was in the Haggin estate estateColonel Colonel Baker said today that he had about made up his mind to buy a farm but that when he found that he could place the mares at Saghonet Farm the arrangement suited him just right I may later buy a farm he said but Ill take my time about it now nowColonel Colonel Baker is making preparations to go to Chicago where his horses now in training are in charge of his son Smith Baker He said that the stable will be divided after the Aurora meeting The better horses will go to Washington Park and the second division will be sent to Omaha
