FAMOUS COLORS IN FRONT Seagrams Black and Yellow Silks Victorious at Thorncliffe Ilolls Royce Gives Excellent Display of Speed I to Take Don Valley Handicap Over the ThreeQuarters Route TORONTO Ont June 1 The Seagram Stable furnished the winner of the afternoons feature race at Thorncliffe Park when the imported racer Rolls Royce carried the fa mous black and yellow sash to victory in the Don Valley Handicap This race which was a dash of threequarters brought a good band of sprinters to the post Rolls Royce always had a slight call over his opponent although there was a good play for several of the others There was a change in riders on Worthmore from E Kennedy to J D Mooney and this brought strong support for the son of Thunderer Worthmore set a fast pace drawing away in the early stages and andeading eading into the home stretch Bourassa laid in second place with Rolls Royce and delayed making his more until the last sixteenth When he called on the Seagram racer he re sponded quickly and the finish found him drawing away to win by threequarters of a length Worthmore beat Patricia J a length and a half for second place Patricia J out ¬ run from the start worked her way up on the outside and at this end was racing well The threequarters were run in 1 13 the first quatrer in 23 and the half mile in in47Ms 47Ms 47MsPROVINCEBRED PROVINCEBRED RACE RACEThe The Riverdale Purse the supplementary feature of the day an affair over the mile route which was exclusively for province breds of the better grade was productive of an interesting contest and the result proved very popular with the large crowd when Ever More the wellbacked choice and prob ¬ ably making her last start under the colors of Mrs L A Livingston was returned the winner Ever More was thought to have the race at her mercy but the running proved different as she was forced to give every ounce to get the verdict by a length from JVIr Gaiety which in their last meeting defeated the Livingston starter over a track that was more suitable to mudlarks mudlarksWith With the track in perfect condition today Evermore was able to show her best form and she was accorded a heavy play playCharles Charles Robsons Bikos was graduated from maiden ranks when he scored in a severe drive to take the measure of Cedar Crest by a scant margin in the opening event exclusively fashioned for juveniles Canadianbred Auto Da Fe one of the pair that raced for W H Wright took downj the minor end of the purse and with a few more strides would probably have been re ¬ turned the victor as he was racing much stronger than the pair that beat him Collar Ada Rose was the one to cut out the early pace with Cedar Crest and Merry Mount forcing the running Entering the home stretch Cedar Crest took the lead but Bikos coming from last position wore him down and got up to win in the last few strides stridesMERIDA MERIDA NARROWLY NARROWLYThe The second race at fiveeighths was again framed for juveniles and brought about another close fit the official placing being the determining factor in deciding the struggle between E F Whitneys Merida which was awarded the verdict and Partake from the J J McCambridge stable Rough Sea was the one to account for the third part of the purse Merida had the services of jockey F Horn and he had the filly away promptly and stalling off early contention from Nick Gallop came again after losing the lead to Partake at the eighth pole and in a stubborn drive just managed to get the verdict verdictSeven Seven cheap platers met in the mile and seventy yards of the third race and Jingle after many failures scored in hollow fashion when she came from well back of the early leaders to take command in the stretch run and at the end was showing the way by three lengths over the favorite Real Artist Five lengths in the rear of the placed horse Kinsman broke into the money division just managing to overtake Jimmy Brown one that raced with the pace cut out by Rural Gossip and Complaisance ComplaisanceRock Rock Shell and jockey R Blackburn made up the winning combination in the sixth race another gallop over the mile and sev ¬ enty yards route to score by a length and onehalf Royal Flag was the one to race to the place and Van Patrick led the others in the field of seven to the finishing mark to take third money
