. At Washington Park One Best Bet HONEYNOOK In the Second Eace. t n of q e: r n n t p o of r a jj f j i a j d C t 2 a a l t i J 1 j i j The rains of Tuesday morning had their telling effect and, as a result, the going is now quite muddy. However, there are plenty the sturdier type of thoroughbreds on hand here and the entries for today are well filled, regardless of the condition of the track. The main race on the card is termed the Congress Handicap, a test of a mile and an eighth, and engaging a good field. Iron Mask II. has been assigned top weight of 112 pounds and next in order comes Chicago, with 105, and Cudgeller, with 104. Black on White, Sixty and Bob Rogers make up the rest of the field. With the weight assignments a good contest is in prospect. Distance racers are to the fore today, four of the seven events carded being at a mile- or more. The fifth is over the mile distance, while the sixth and seventh will see platers in action over the popular distance a mile and an eighth. BASHA ROCKING REVOLT. Tom Cheeks BASHA is quite a mud runner and, in his present good form, may be able to annex the initial race. He was fairly consistent at Aurora in the muddy going and he has only to put forth the same efforts here to win. ROCKING has been a long time in winning a race, but she usually lands among the first three, and we are looking for her to get a piece of the purse in this number. REVOLT would do for the show end of the purse if she raced in her best style. EASTER LADDIE is a recent arrival from the Ohio circuit, where he managed to win his share of purses. He may cause trouble if in a running mood. HONEYNOOK LITTLE BROOM ANGRY MOOD. What appears to be the best play of the day is spotted in the second race, a five-eighths dash for two-year-olds. This trick is HONEYNOOK, which races for H. C. Mc-Connell. He was invincible while racing in the mud at Aurora and his last start here was such as to suggest that he is right up to winning trip. LITTLE BROOM does not call for much on his races here, but he was winner in the mud over the Bowie track last spring, and a race back to that showing should find him close up at the finish. ANGRY MOOD seems to be on the improve and may be good enough to hold the others safe for the short end of the coin. INDRA can plow through the going and, with her light impost today, may prove troublesome. COLONEL SETH MINT TODDY AREGAL. An ordinary band of platers meet over the three-quarters distance in the third, with COLONEL SETH looked upon as possibly the best. He has yet to run his real race here, but recent workouts indicate that he is nearing top form and he may turn the trick today. MINT TODDY gets the call for the place on his showing in his first start over a muddy track. In that race he ihere finished a good second to Theo Red. AREGAL is a mud-runner of the first flight, but his recent races have been more or less off color. However, he must be. given another chance and, in this company, appears to be able to get the show, money at least. JOE JUNIOR may find his impost too much for him. BOB ROGERS IRON MASK II. CHICAGO. BOB ROGERS gets quite a catch in the weights in the Congress Handicap and, tak-. ing a line through his last race, which was a winning one, he must be given the call ia this number. IRON MASK II. is bound to give the Heaton representative a stiff argument, but we think the difference in weights will have its telling effect CHICAGO raced more to his capabilities in his last start and he would not surprise a great deal by scoring here. He is good in the going and packs light weight for this race today. CUDGELLER is better suited to the sprinting distances and we do not expect him to figure in the result. The same applies to SIXTY. KYROCK NAT EVENS KU3I KALESST. The mile of the fifth should see KYROCK registering a win. He will be making his first start of the year in this race, but his training moves have all been good and he only needs to race in the same manner today to score. He met and defeated some of the best last year, and all indications are that he has retained that same good form. NAT EVENS ran far below his best style in his only start here. It may be that he needed that race and we are looking for him to give a much better account of himself today. KUM KALESSIS usual race would do for the short end of the purse. GUERDON was the me-; dium of a heavy play in his last start, but he failed to show anything. On best races he rates an outside chance. HALU GRASS TREE FOOLSCAP. If in a running mood today, HALU could be the winner of the sixth number. He is a hard one to figure and wins when least expected. He has beaten this sort of company before and may be able to turn the trick today. GRASS TREE is about due for an improved showing, and a race to his best form should see him giving the winner the most argument. FOOLSCAP has been a long time in winning a race but is usually bang-up at the finish, and today should be no exception. DUTCH GIRL is possibly the best of the others. TRY AGAIN FINLAND TRANSPLANT. TRY AGAIN is worth a try in the concluding number. He is more or less partial to a muddy course and only has to put forth his best efforts to win this race. FINLAND has been in the money in his last three starts over this track and, with his light impost today, is apt to prove a hard one to beat. TRANSPLANT is given the call for third. BAD LUCK has been racing poorly of late and does not seem to have much of a chance in this field. GEO. DEVER is unreliable, though he does turn in a good race every once in a while.
