v ENGLI URF NOTES § . — LONDON, England. "Word was received of the death of Mrs. Oilling of Thirsk. Mrs. Gilling, well known to the breeding Industry, had always been a prominent contributor to the yearling sales. Probably the best horse she ever bred was Prestissimo, which was very much better than he ever showed to be on the race course. The Irish turf received a severe blow when Messrs. F. S. Myerscough and A. B. Coyle announced their retirement from the turf. These two have been the principal patrons of the Brownstown Stable at The Curragh. Book Law. which was one of the "star turns" at Newmarket, is an even more handsome filly now than she was as a three-year-old, which is saying a great deal. She is fuller about her quarters and does not run up so light in her back ribs. She is also a filly with wonderful heart room. An animal with a more sensible head and a finer expression would be difficult to find.
