« USE GASSIDY GATE TORONTO, Ont, May 28.— The Cassidy starting gate was used for the first time on a Canadian Racing Associations track in the third race at Thorncliffe this afternoon. The Cassidy gate is a stationary affair. There are fifteen stalls in it and the gate is located at the three-quarters chute, which means that it can only be used when the horses are started from this point. Young Cassidy is working on the plans of another gate, much lighter in weight and which can be used from a moving start. It is expected that this new invention will be ready for use at Tijuana next winter.
