■ # . DEATH TAKES R. E. WATXINS NEW YORK, N. Y., May 28.— Richard E. Watkins, for thirty-five years identified with the greatest of all sports as an owner and trainer, died last night at his residence. 77 Baldwin Road, Hempstead, L. I. Funeral services will be held at that address tomorrow night at 8 :30 oclock. Mr. Watkins trained many prominent thoroughbreds for many noted owners. Ho conditioned the fleet Lady Amelia, one of Americas leading race mares, for the late E. R. Thomas. Other owners for whom he trained included David Gideon, Senator Tat McCanon and George Griot,
