Hertz Kentucky Derby winner, is out of racing until the Saratoga meeting, next August, spread throughout Churchill Downs this morning. The rumor gained credence in the fact that B. S. Michell, developer and trainer of the colt, declined to affirm or deny it and, in discussing Reigh Counts present condition, intimated strongly that the Derby winner will not contest the impending renewal of the Belmont Stakes Sand probably will be out of competition j until late summer or early autumn. While Michell, found in his usual pleasant mood, cleverly evaded answering all questions concerning his plans for the ! future racing of Peigh Count, he let it be known that an announcement of importance to racing may be made by Mr. Hertz here tomorrow. Mr. Hertz is expected from Chicago overnight and upon his arrival here will go into conference with Michell and possibly l r. Southard, lecal veterinarian, who has had Reigh Count under treatment for almost two weeks. It is understood that Mr. H rtz will be advised against any immediate attempt to resume racing of Iteigh Count. Peigh Count, when offered for inspection this morning, seemed in greatly improved condition, yet inflammation and filling is still noted about his lower left hind leg, where he was badly kicked while at the barrier in the Derby. This injury has kept him from under saddle since the running of that race and, as the Pelmont Stakes will be run on June 0, the chances for the colt to be prepared for that gallop of one mile and a half, even if it was possible to resume his training tomorrow, are very remote.
