FAVOR STANDING STALL Thorncliffe Park to Use New Device in All Races Next Fall — Advantages Pointed Out. TORONTO. Ont., June 5.— The standing stalls used in connection with the starting gate have proved so popular with horsemen and racegoers that the management has decided to make an effort to use them in connection with starling in every race at Thorncliffe Park next fall. Chutes will be built on the outside- of the track at the different starting points in which the stalls will be erected. This plan appears feasible and it may solve the whole starting problem and. instead of flimsy movable stalls, stationary ones can bo used. There is no question but what the stalls are a great help, both to the starters and to the horsemen. Tile results obtained here have been remarkable when oqe considers that many of the horses were sent away from the stalls here for the first time. Really the best results have been obtained from bad actors, those that are i clined to wheel and kick while at the pest. One thing that the stalls surely do and that is to lessen the chances of injury to other starters from vicious kickers and, when horses break they break straight and the absence of jostling and bumping, which comes directly after the start, has been quite noticeable for its absence in races where the starts have been from the stalls. 4 ,
