Famous Epsom Derby Today i LONDON, England, June 5. — The Epsom Derby, the worlds most famous race, will be run at Epsom Downs tomorrow. Twenty-three colts of the thoroughbred aristocracy are named to contest for supremacy over the irregular course of a mile and a half, with nearly half a million people viewing the historic struggle from the many vantage points. The favorite, so far as expert opinion goes, is Fairway, owner by Lord Derby, after whose ancestor the ancient classic is named. Astride the favorite will be Tommy Weston, who rode Fairway to victory in the Newmarket Stakes, traditionally regarded as the gate to success in the great Epsom race. An international flavor is added by the entry of two French horses. Jacques Wittouck sends his crack colt Palais Royal II. to the barrier. The other French entry is Baron de Rothschilds Bubbles II.
