Charles W. Bidwill, one of the youngei generation of Chicago sportsmen, who na» enjoyed a good measure of success with his small stable since he joined the ranks -of owners a few years back, will be conspicuous the list of local owners who will race their stables at the Arlington Park meeting. From position of comparative obscurity, Mr. Bid-will has, in the past couple of seasons, forged his way up among the leading lights of the local turf world, both as an owner of a racing stable and as an active participant and adviser in Chicagos turf activities. The experience he gained since becoming the executive of one of the citys largest printing establishments Mr. Bidwill has applied to his work in connection with racing matters. He was largely instrumental in the formation of the Illinois Turf Association, which now has under its jurisdiction all of the race tracks in Illinois. He is secretary this organization. He is also connected with several of the Chicago tracks in an important capacity. Mr. Bidwill finds relaxation from his official duties in maintaining a modest stable of horses, and lately he has branched out by turning his attention to the breeding of thoroughbreds. Recently he purchased a number well bred mares, and these are now stationed at one of the Blue Grass breeding farms. Ultimately Mr. Bidwill hopes to race horses of his own breeding. The Bidwill stable, which is in charge of that young trainer Roy Slomer, comprises five horses, these being Two Dans and Participate, both four-year-olds ; and the three-year-olds Hidden Thoughts, Kitty Mullally and Teas Over. Hidden Thoughts, a bay filly by Last Coin — Laughing Eyes II., by Irish Lad, is a product of Colonel Chinns farm, and was acquired by Mr. Bidwill last spring. In the latters colors the filly was frequent winner on the Chicago tracks in overnight races. The stable doesnt include any stake horses at present, but Mr. Bidwill is so much encouraged by his success so far, that he intends to add to his establishment, at a not distant date, one or two horses of stake caliber. •
