KINGSWAY followed in close pursuit of the leaders and. saving ground at the stretch turn, secured 1 racing room on the inside and, wearing down FREETHINKER steadily, was slowly drawing away at the end. FREETHINKER, under a hustling ride to reach the front, lost ground and weakened when i inside the final eighth. STAR CREST, forced to race on the outside all the way, lost a lot of ground, but finished gamely. FAIR FORTUNE showed a good effort. ROSELYS ran an even race. BRUCOURT. jumping in bold fashion and allowed to remain off the pace for a turn of the field, moved to TOP NOTCH with a rush after taking the thirteenth obstacle and drew out at will thereafter. JINGLE dropped back in the early stages, improved his position steadily in the last half mile and finished gamely, but could not threaten the winner. TOP NOTCH shook off ROCKING HORSE when ready and assumed a good lead, but tired badly in the closing drive. W1NOYA was never able to reach the leaders. ROCKING HORSE raced well for the first mile. BYRON was outrun. BLACK PEPPER fell heavily at the ninth fence and was destroyed when it was found his neck was broken. Corrected weight — Brucourt, 134. QftQTI THIRD RACE— 1 1-16 Miles. Edisto. FIRE BRIGADE, quick to start, raced GENERAL BULLARl into defeat and was steadied along under mild restraint, but, bearing out during the stretch drive, finished gamely when challenged. WINDSWEPT, outpaced for three-quarters, came through on the inside of the leaders when entering the home stretch and finished courageously. SNELBOC followed close up and responded willingly, holding on well. FIRE WATCH closed fast on the inside. ICIIITARO weakened at the end. SIR HARRY was close up from the start and, saving ground, moved into the lead when approaching the streich turn and, under hard riding, just lasted to stall off SUNFIRE. The latter moved up fast when put to a drive, then closed resolutely and would have been wiuner in a few more strides. DISPLAY went around his field, but made a wide turn into the home stretch and tired after his effort. SUN FORWARD had no mishaps. WELLET and LIGHT VIEW were used up in setting the pace. The latter, fractious at the post, delayed the start, but broke swiftly to take the lead and was kept under pressure, but faltered when uiaring the finish. SUN ALTOS, cut off at the start, took a wide course all the way, but closed a big gap. AVERSION, prominent all the way, held on well. GUEST had no excuses. White lost his stirmp irons and could not do PLAGUER justice. HOBCAW wheeled at the start and blocked REIGHBURN and SUN ALTOS. GREAT ROCK, slow to settle in his stride and well back in the early stages, challenged on the outside after reaching the home stretch, then closed up ground fast to displace the leader anil drew away in the last sixteenth. COTTAGE BOY suffered interference before reaching the half mile post, then went to the outside for racing room and wore the leaders down, but could not withstand the winners rush. FENLIGHT. prominent throughout, held on well. SEA LADY, could not improve her position. FOREHEAD and 1SETTA were made too much use of early and they quit. SUCKY quit.
