PERCY POMFEY DIES TORONTO, Canada, May 22.— The many friends of Percy Pomfey were shocked when they learned of his death in Toronto at 12 :30 last night in the office of Dr. St. Charles, Toronto surgeon. Mr. Pomfey was one of Mortimer Mahoneys crew in the mutuel department at the Woodbine. His connection with racing dates back many years. At one time he was agent for the late Willie Shields. He was born in Washington, D. C, and was forty-six years of age. His home was in Baltimore, Md., and a widow and four daughters survive him. John J. Farrell took charge of the remains, defrayed all funeral expenses and had his body shipped back to Baltimore for interment.
