w I WOODBINE TURF NOTES j £— _ TORONTO, Ont., May 24. The two-year-old Cliftons Lass was taken down with a slight attack of fever this morn-ning, which was responsible for her v.ih-drawal from the opening event. A peculiar incident of Thursdays racing was that four of the seven events were won by horses that are either steeplecnasers or prospective ones. Billycock, Contemp a*« and Imbos have been schooling througn ♦ae field while Vocalian has been jumping f,r some time. Contemplate went over several jumps on Wednesday as his final prep for Thursdays victory. Jockeys Reggie Fisher, Pete W.l.s and George Duller were arrivals from Uclmcnt Park and all three returned to New 1ork at the conclusion of the afternoons .sport. I The management was complimented on Ms success in keeping the steeplechases up during the meeting. During the seven da s of racing seven steeplechases were run. Ttere were two stakes, condition events anO claim ing handicaps. All classes of jumpers were catered to. Another incident of the meeting was the fact that every handicap offered filled. » ,
