FIELD MARSHAL saved ground where possible, raced LADDIE BUCK into defeat and, taking the lead entering the 6tretch, drew away to win in a canter. SECRECY was forced to race wide on the turns, but closed in fast and gamely when clear in the stretch, outfinishing the others. VENEITA M. showed early speed and held on strongly in the final drive. MAD A. saved ground on the inside, but was in the worst part of the going and tired. OUR BUDDY could never threaten the leaders. LADDIE BUCK raced well for the first half mile, but was done in the stretch. SHANTY McCARTY outpaced to the stretch, came to the outside and, favored by the going, closed a big gap rapidly, gradually getting up to wear down RITTER. The latter, always close up, took the lead entering the stretch, held on strongly in the final drive, but was unable to withstand the winner at the end. ETHEL SHERLOCK raced forwardly, held on well and outstayed MISS LESTER. MISS LESTER showed the most early speed while racing on the inside to the far turn, but tired in the final three-sixteenths. AL GARNET raced well. HAND OR gained gradually. JOHNNY CALLAHAN raced poorly in the going. THE COACH raced forwardly and. gradually wearing down STAR MISTRESS, outfinished her in the final drive. The latter raced in closest and vain pursuit of the leader to the stretch and tired. RED SPIDER had no mishaps and was going well at the end. COMMON GOLD improved his position gradually, threatened strongly entering the stretch but weakened in the last eighth. THE ORLEANIAN raced prominently on the outside of TED HEAI.EY and, coming wide into the ■tretch, took the best going and overhauled TED HEAI.EY into the lead, but barely lasted to win in • hard final drive. OLD GUARD, far back to the stretch, closed a big gap with a rush on the outside and just failed to get up to wear down the winner. TED HEAI.EY raced into the lead and set a good pace to the stretch, bnt tired as a result of running the heaviest part of the course. JIM BRIDGBR fcad no mishaps and raced well. LA REKOTTB raced away into a long early lead, but began tiring in the last eighth and just failed to outlast the winner. PANKETA, a keen factor all the way, finished gamely, outgaming CATESBY.
