HIGH ESTIMATE OF McGONIGLE "Honesty in a horse is like honesty in a man, the horse, like the man, never fails to do his best." Stuyvesant Peabody, president of the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club was speaking of McGonigle, the colt he bought from C. H. Knebelkamp. "McGonigle is one of the finest thoroughbred types I know about," he said. McGonigle was withdrawn from the Kentucky Derby because, as Mr. Peabody explained, he had been through a severe winters campaign and needed freshening up. There may have been some regrets that McGonigle was not a starter on the muddy track, as he is considered a splendid mud runner. He is being pointed for the American Derby, for which he was nominated by his former owner, Mr. Knebelkamp.
