The latter, away fast, raced forwardly. was placed under punishment and was wearing the winner down steadily nearing the finish. GOLD DUST came to the outside in the last three-eighths and finished fast after losing ground. THESTYLIS, showing good speed, raced into a brief lead, withstood contention from JOHNNY AGEE and held on with gameness when the final drive came. JOHNNY A;EE forced a good pace, was hurried along throughout and hold on well. ELI. A RUFUS ran a good race. CALM was pinched back when leaving the back stretch and could not keep up thereafter. GALOPIN DIAMOND displaying his best form, raced GOELAND into defeat and. holding on desperately, just lasted to outstay MISS GAIETY II. The latter, saving ground early, moved up on the inside during the stretch run and finished stoutly. GOELAND set a good pace and was tiring rapidly the last quarter-mile.
