Jordan, his closest follower In the early stages, came away when the latter retired and held Indian Love Call safe during the stretch. Cayugas rider, L. Jones, did not take much chance on his mount tiring in the last eighth and rode him industriously and plied the whip. The easterner Czarist was a slight favorite in the race and flattered by taking command immediately after the start and leading the others until headed •When approaching the stretch by Voshell. The latter then held sway until Muhle King Came with his rush and overhauled him. Longwood had no mishaps and ran a good race.
