TANF0RAN TURF NOTES 6 TAXFORAN, Calif., April 7. Jockey J. Longo, who has been absent from the saddle for some time, will resume riding at this meeting. He has been signed to pilot the horses of the College Inn Stable. Herbert Newman, who acted as agent for the stable of W. Frank Smith, prominent Long Island turfman, was an arrival from San Diego. Benny Murphy, agent for the Three Ds Stable, is also visiting Tanforan. Blanche Brooke, the good filly from the Meadowbrook Stable, has been fired and turned out on the Ontario, California, ranch. Gene Normile, former ring manager at Tijuana, entertained a large party of guests at the club house. Mannie Kellar and Eddie Hayes, who are in charge of the jockeys quarters, report that over forty riders are registered. T. C. Byrne, prominently connected with the turf and breeding industry in Nebraska, looked the plant over on opening day. E. B. Seins has purchased the platers Patricia McKeon and Bon Bobby from Meadowbrook Stable, and the horses will be trained by W. H. Davis. Bill OMalley headed a party of Butte turf fans who came down for the opening. Among the other visitors on opening day were Robert Roos, Judge Fitzpatrick, Adolph Spreckels, J. H. Rosseter, J. Lillantha and Geo. Pope, Jr. The track was a trifle slow for the first days racing, but track superintendent Dennis promises a fast track next week.
