: . Preakness-Derby Entries Only forty-eight of this seasons three-year-olds were nominated for both .the Preakness Stakes and the Kentucky Derby, the two great May classics for young thoroughbreds. While geldings are barred In the Preakness, the number of nominations for the two" prizes is much smaller than in previous years. The Preakness is a 50,000 stake at one mile and three-sixteenths, which will be run at Pimlico on May 9. The Derby also has 0,000 added, but the distance is ono mile and a quarter. It will be run aray 17 at Churchill Downs.
