PROFIT FOR FAIR GROUNDS Col. J. P. Sullivan States Louisiana Jockey Clubs Recent Meeting Financial Success. NEW ORLEANS, La., April 7. For the first time in several years the Louisiana Jockey Club, which operates the Fair Grounds, shows a profit on the recent winter season that closed March 4, according to announcement by Col. John J. Sullivan, chairman of the executive committee. The seasons profits were ,911.39. "The Jockey Club," says Colonel Sullivan, "has liquidated a mortgage note of 7,500 on the Fair Grounds and has also paid the city of New Orleans 0,000 in the moral obligation which the club assumed in connection with the purchase of the old city park track and which has since become part of city park." Discussing the recent meeting, Colonel Sullivan expressed his gratitude for the support which the club received and the assistance of local business interests in aiding in making the meeting a successful one. The fact that the Fair Grounds showed a profit something few expected according to plans, will result in additional improvements to the course during the summer months. Colonel Sullivan recently returned from Palm Beach, where he conferred with Col. E. R. Bradley, principal stockholder in the club, who declared that the Fair Grounds "is not for sale."
