1 BEULAH PARK TURF NOTES f e COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 18. The public address system was installed at Beulah Park today and several helpful changes were made. W. R. Norvell, racing secretary, arrived today from Tanforan, via Chicago, and opened, his office at the track; Brownie Held and Sammy Wainright are his assistants. G. Buddy Wingfield arrived with his assistant starters from Kentucky several days ago and made a last-minute inspection of Till the barriers to be used at the different starting points. Jockey Willie Cleverely arrived from Agua Caliente today with the stable of J. Strite. Among other jockeys to put in applications were D. McAllister, W. Duff, A. Fisher, D. King, L. Cunningham, J. Pevic, S. Lapice and J. Sandoz. Stables to arrive today were H. Torriente with twelve head ; Ed Moore, two, from Havana; J. Strite, eight; C. E. Davidson, ten ; W. Carrier, eight, and V. Cloud with ten from Agua Caliente ; F. H. Carpenter, eight ; W. Marlman, five; Tom Scott, four, and C. Garrigan with ten from New Orleans. The Florida delegation was headed by Al Miller with ten ; C. E. Hudson, five, and Olin Johnson with six. From Lexington: J. F. Winchester, eight; Latonia, L. A. Conner, four; Larry Daley with four. The largest shipment came late today when Sam Gorbet arrived from Fairfield, 111., with fifteen head. Joe Gallagher is in charge of the jockey room. "Chief" Johnson, the veteran Indian rider, has applied for a jockey license.
