STAKE DATES AT SARATOGA Thirty-One Fixtures Scheduled for Renewal During August Meeting. Saturdays Are Gala Days of Turf Season at Spa Rich Hopeful for Closing Program. NEW YORK, N. Y., April 30. Dates for thirty-one of the stakes that will be renewed during the .twenty-eight-day meeting at Sara- . toga Springs, July 30 to August 30, have been selected. As usual, the Flash for two-year-olds, and the Saratoga Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, each a ,000 prize, will feature the opening-day card. Saturday is the gala day of racing at the -Spa. With the exception of August 23, when the Grand Union for juveniles and the : Merchants and Citizens Handicap will be run, the Saturday programs will be marked by, three stake offerings. The first Saturday, August 2, the Shille-lah Steeplechase, United States Hotel Stakes and Wilson Memorial Stakes will be decided. On August 9 the stake offerings are the North American Steeplechase, Saratoga Special and Whitney Memorial Stakes. August 1C, the Beverwyck Steeplechase, Spin-away Stakes and Travers Midsummer Derby will be contested. The final days program, August 30, is marked by the Saratoga Steeplechase, Hopeful Stakes, the richest offering of the meeting, being a 0,000 stake for two-year-olds, and the Saratoga Cup. M1V ADDITIONS TO CALENDAR. Between times such famous fixtures as the Schuylerville Stakes, two-year-old fillies; Alabama Stakes, three-year-old fillies; Miller Stakes, three-year-olds ; Sanford Stakes, two-year-olds ; Huron Handicap, three-year-olds ; Saranac Handicap, three-year-olds, and Adirondack Handicap, two-year-olds, will be renewed. The Wilson Memorial is a new addition to the Saratoga Springs stake list. The event, which commemorates the late president of the Saratoga Association, is for three-year-olds and upward, and it has an added value of ,000. It will be run at one mile. This distance at Saratoga Springs hereafter will be called the "Wilson mile." Another memorial fixture on the Spa schedule is the Whitney. This is a ,000 prize for three-year-olds and upward and is run at one mile and a quarter. This event commemorates Payne Whitney. It was first run last year when Bateau won it.
