SANTORB SOLD TO HUNGARY BUDAPEST, Hungary. The Hungarian government, in an effort to maintain the excellence of its famous breed of horses, has just purchased for the state the Fnglish stallion Santorb, by Santoi, dam Countess Torby, by Morganatic. The price paid was approximately 1930.sh3,000. Santorb, brown horse, foaled 1921, was bred by Captain Charles Moore and sold as a yearling at the Doncaster sales for 2,100 guineas. Santorb was a winner in his two, three and four-year-old form. Among his winning races may be mentioned Ascot Cold Cup two and one-half miles, Doncaster Cup two and one-eighth miles, Great Northern Leger one and five-eighths miles, Newmarket St. Leger, Payne Stakes, etc He was retired to the stud in 1027. having been I sold at Newmarket sales for 10,500 guineas.
