BUSY LOUISVILLE ARRIVAL Increases Number of Derby Candidates Now on Scene of Big- Race May 17. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 30. Busy, J. B. Respess Kentucky Derby candidate, arrived ! by van from Lexington and thereby increased j the number of formidable eligibles lor the classic here. Bold Robin, Busy, Monarch, Intruder, Mr. Moon and Corsicana accompanied the Derby colt to the Downs, where trainer Art Goldblatt had preceded the" shipment and saw his charges unloaded. Twelve more of the Irvington turfmans stable will arrive here today and Thursday. Ladrone, the Derby candidate of J. N. Camden, showed the best move of any of the eligibles which worked at the Downs this morning. He worked with "Vermiculite, and ran three-quarters in-1:22, after going the first half in :53. The track was sloppy early this morning, from the hard rainfall of Tuesday night, but was only slow when Ladrone and his workmate had their trial. Sam Wooldridge, Dinwiddie Lamptons Derby hope, was worked three-eighths in :37 under a drive, and trainer C. N. Lewis also worked his Derby candidate Devlin, a like distance in :3D. Martinique, which is a candidate for the Clark Handicap, was sent three-quarters in 1:23. Tishybo, the Mrs. E. Denemark Oaks candidate, went one mile for trainer R. T. Watts in 1 :54. Rich Widow, the Oaks candidate from the J. W. Parrish stable, was galloped five-eighths, by trainer Willie Crump, in 1 :09. B. B. Jones, owner of the Audley Farm at Berryville and a big racing stable at the Downs, including Gallant Knight, Derby candidate, was a visitor at his barn this morning, being accompanied by L. S. Mozely of Hopkinsville, and Dr. Pat James of Jackson, Miss. Mr. Jones stopped off at Louisville from a trip through the South and was met by Mr. Mozely, who has some of his mares at his farm in Christian County, Ky. Mrs. Jones left for Lexington to visit the farm of Rhodes Estill, who has his stallion Carlaris in the stud at his place. J. J. Flanagan brought back from Lexington, by van, the horses he campaigned at the Kentucky Association track. Duelist, a winner, All Girls, One Long Hop and Supryse, the Oaks candidate in the Mrs. E. L. Swikard stable, were in the Flanagan shipment back to the Louisville track. Trainer Spence, of the Audley Farm Stable, and trainer Mose Lowenstein, of the Le Mar Stock Farm Stable, will work Gallant Knight and Maudlin this afternoon.
