COE INSPECTS YOUNGSTERS Owner Impressed With Fillies by Sun Briar — Cleopatra and Pompey — Black Maria. LEXINGTON, Ky., May 6.— William R. Coe left Lexington today for his home in New York after making a two-day inspection of his Shoshone Farm and the thoroughbred stock there, which he found in the best of condition. In company with Phil T. Chinn, manager of the farm, and trainer Charles E. Patterson, Mr. Coe looked over the yearling crop, mostly the get of Poly-melian and Pompey, and expressed his pleasure with the youngsters, which appear to be the best group produced at Shoshone. He was especially struck with the manner in which the fillies by Sun Briar — Cleopatra and by Pompey — Black Maria have developed. They are grand prospects. He saw for the first time the foals by Hustle On, the first sired by that expensive young horse. J. F. Patterson sold to A. Luzader at Louisville, the five-year-old gelding Balzar, by Sweep — Polistena. Mr. Patterson has just returned from a business trip to Chicago. E. J. Tranter is expected to arrive in Lexington Saturday to direct the three sales which he will hold here Thursday and Friday of next week.
