APPLICATIONS AT ARLINGTON * Numerous Requests for Stabling From Many Prominent Owners. ♦ Great Array of Rich Stakes Topped by 0,000 Added Classic Attracting Outstanding Stars of Turf. ♦ The extent of the participation of the big racing establishments of the country in the coming summer meeting at Arlington Park, which will be marked by a gross monetary distribution of between 25,000 and 50,000 in thirty days, is indicated by the applications for stabling registered already with Roy Carruthers, general manager. Salient features of the Arlington Park meeting will be revivals of the Arlington Classic, 0,000 added, one mile and a quarter, which will gross about 0,000, pay its winner in the neighborhood of 0,000 and be the richest special for three-year-olds run anywhere in the world; the Arlington Cup, Stars and Stripes, Arlington and Inaugural Handicaps, Arlington Oaks, Arlington Matron Handicap, Post and Paddock, Hyde Park and Lassie Stakes and North Shore Steeplechase Handicap and the inaugural of the Lake Forest Steeplechase Handicap. The ten stakes on the flat already have attracted 1,499 nominations, with a second closing for June 1, when the North Shore and Lake Forest Steeplechases will have a first and final closing. Even with the large stabling capacity of Arlington Park there is certain to be a shortage of accommodations long before the time set for the shipmpt of horses to the big northwest side plant.
