TRIMDON DISAPPOINTS Special Cablegram. CHESTER, England, May 6— In a thrilling finish with only a length and a half separating the first three horses at the end of the running of the Chester Cup Handicap here today, Sir Harold Wernheirs Brown Jack defeated General Charles Lamb-tons Trimdon, with Fireaway third and Knight of Lorn fourth. There were seventeen starters. The defeat of Trimdon was a severe shock to his backers. He was the 2 to 1 favorite, and it was believed that he had the race at his mercy. He carried 126 pounds. Brown Jack, which was 100 to 8 in the betting, was top weight, under 132 pounds. Fireaway was 100 to 6, and Knight of Lorn 18 to 1.
