PIMLICO TURF NOTES 4 _ - PIMLICO, Md., May 8. George Tappen has arranged to ship the Belair pair Faireno and Flaming back to Aqueduct on Sunday. Lace Shawl and Gift o Gab, the two-year-old fillies that Mrs. W. V. Hendricks purchased from P. T. Chinn, are expected to arrive from Louisville in the morning. The pair will be raced at Hagerstown. Carl Utz, who handles the steeplechasers that race for the Foxcatcher Farms, left for Radnor, Pa., this morning to assist J. B. Dobson in the management of the days racing to be given there Saturday. Several of the Preakness eligibles were out this morning for exercise gallops. Equipoise was sent a half mile in :54, Ladder in :53%, Anchors Aweigh and Twenty Grand five furlongs in 1:01%, Surf Board in 1:03 and Soil Gills in 1:05. A party of Washlngtonlans, friends of jockey "Sonny* Workman, have chartered a couple of sleepers to make the trip out to Louisville to root for Workmans mount Equipoise in the Kentucky Derby. Dark, heavy clouds were on the horizon: this afternoon and, while the sun shone at intervals, indications pointed for more rain* Trainer Freddie Hopkins is, of course, rooting for a heavy track, which would favor Equipoise a lot. Track superintendent Ryan had a large force of men at work on the track since sunrise this morning, and the footing this afternoon was in fairly good shape. It looks good on top, but was heavy in spots. Jockeys P. Walls and L. McAtee wired that they would be here early in the morn* ing prepared to ride Clock Tower and Surf Board. *
