Cousin Jo, Charles Nuckols sturdy candidate for the Kentucky Oaks, to be run tomorrow, ran a half in :48% handily over the rough track this morning and appears at her best for Saturdays race. J. J. Greely left tonight for Aurora, where he will inspect the division of his stable at Exposition Park. He returns Sunday. The Superior Stable, owned by Wm. E. Schmidt and trained by Roy Selden, unloaded from Pimlico at Washington Park yesterday, according to word received by Schmidt, a visitor here. Within a short time Selden will place in training five horses that were turned out at L. M. Seversons farm following the close of the New Orleans season. Hyman, the stables crack three-year-old, may be ready for the American Derby, to be run at Washington Park next month. The division of the Wm. Ziegler, Jr., and Middleburg Stable, which arrived here Wednesday from Maryland, furnished its first starters in Lead Off, Barrido and Ilium. Jockey G. Arnold, who accompanied the stable here, rode the three horses. Col. E. R. Bradley did not make the trip from his Idle Hour Farm to witness the Preparation Purse, in which his colors were carried by Bar Hunter and Barometer, but plans to come over for his Derby stay after attending the J. N. Camden sale of thoroughbreds Tuesday. H. P. Headley returned from his Beaumont Farm to witness the efforts of his home-breds. Prepare and Pirogue, and the imported Dark Entry. O. Viaus Star Dancer, which suffered a leg fracture when he fell during the running of the third race Thursday, was destroyed. Jack Reynolds, worlds welterweight wrestling champion and an ardent enthusiast, joined the owners ranks when he acquired at private terms from Miss Blanche Watson of Cincinnati the useful Negodale and the gelding carried Reynolds green, yellow and red colors in the closing race. Later in the day Miss Watson also sold Our Johnny, Queen Pal and Battling Bill to Reynolds, who plans to race a stable of about ahi horsea.
