GOODBYE SUMMER gained steadily in the early stages and, saving ground entering the stretch, wore down the early leaders and won going away. SAM COLE was away slowly and closed a gap to outfinish AMERICAN THUNDER. The latter set the pace and. racing POLY "into defeat, held on fairly well. FORE-BEC closed a gap on the outside in the stretch. SETHS COMPANION and POLY tired in the last eighth. FAY HAMILTON showed early speed. ORESTES II.. racing strongly from the start, overtook the others on the stretch turn and raced well to the end. FOXY SETH was always prominent and saved ground in the stretch. SWOOP made up much ground and finished fast. MARGARET PARKER and PRANCING STEP tired badlv in the last eighth. MURMURING PINES and JABOULAY were away poorly. THISTLE VIC soon took the lead and, gamely withstanding the stretch challenge of GOOD FRIEND, scored in a driving finish. GOOD FRIEND was started slightly behind the others, but raced into contention in the first quarter and, although racing wide in the stretch, challenged gamely, but could not get up. TRYCOBEL showed speed and held on fairly well. LUCKY CARTER could not get up. MASTER TONEY began slowly and tired after racing into contention. DON WORTHINGTON also tired. CH0ICE came fast after leaving the back stretch and, despite being cut off by KING ite-ivTHERj KELLY at mid-stretch, took to the outside to overtake the latter and win handily. KING KELLY raced a trifle wide on the first turn, but took the lead on the back stretch and opened up a long lead, tired, and swerving to the rail, interfered with the winner in the stretch. HARPOON raced gamely to the end. BUMPKIN made up ground. RADIO SERVICE was carried wide on the first turn, hen got into a contending position, only to tire in the stretch. ELMER H. quit badlv.
