GRAND CHAMPION, acting like a good colt and a quick starter, raced into the lead under restraint, but was inclined to loaf after going wide for the best footing in the stretch and continued well enough to hold DYAK safe. The latter showed good speed and held on well in his impressive performance. F. GRABNER improved his position on the stretch turn, but could not get up. HORACE swerved badly in the stretch. RECTOR showed good belated speed. LEAD OFF tired. PREPARE suffered interference at the start and dropped out of it in the stretch. PRINCE ASCOT had no mishaps and quit badly after five sixteenths. PORT HARLEM, racing in her best form and much the best, raced under restraint after drawing clear with a rush and, maintaining good speed, won with much to spare. QUIVER, close up for an eighth, drew clear approaching the turn, went wide for the stretch and held on gamely. LAILA WILD, crowded back, closed with a rush on the extreme outside. PRINCESS PEGGY showed a good performance. ALL GIRLS showed speed, but tired after half a mile. MARY COBB had no mishaps. SCOTCH MADE showed early speed. HASTY POLLY, oa the inside to the stretch, closed fast after racing wide for the final quarter. ELLEN D., forced back, closed fast. PRINCESS ITALIA was in close quarters on the turn. MATINEE GIRL, fractious at the post, began slowly, worked her wav up under hard urging and tired in the stretch. LITTLE COUSIN showed early speed. DOMINANT STAR quit. STOCK MARKET forced the early pace under shght restraint, met sharp blocking when moving up strongly on the inside entering the stretch, recovered slowly and closed well after going to the outside. BOYS HOWDY, away fast, was forced back when racing on the inside on the turn and, responding well when clear in the stretch and, working his way into the lead, withstood SWEEP ALL. The latter, restrained for five-eighths, was blocked on the stretch turn and, after going wide in the last quarter, closed with a rush and was wearing down the winner. PITTSBURGHER, close up, worked his way clear after reaching the stretch, then tired. SPANISH PLAY, forced back when blocked on the far turn, went to the outside in the stretch and closed gamely.
