AWARD THIRD TO CLAREMONT NEW YORK, N. Y., May 8— By order of the Jamaica stewards, third place in the Olympic Claiming Stakes, run Thursday, was awarded the Dorwood Stables Claremont, the one that actually finished third, though W. R. Coes Masked Ball was awarded third at the finish of the race. A protest was made by J. P. Smith, trainer of the Dorwood Stable, and the stewards ordered the change in the third award after consulting with E. C. Smith and Chris Cornehlsen, the placing judges. The judges disclaimed responsibility on the plea they had placed Claremont third, but a mistake was made in displaying the numbers indicating the order of the finish.
