ARROW began quickly and. displaying good speed in the going, saved ground and, responding to punishment, withstood challenges in the last eighth and was up to win in the last strides. BRIGHT BIRD raced closely lapped on the winner, took a brief lead, but tired. MADWIND, hard ridden throughout, outfinished WORTHINGTON. The latter was hurried along throughout. ROKEBY was gaining fast in the stretch. EXPERTLS was forced to race wide all the way. The others had no mishaps. Won easily ; second and third driving. CRUMPLER fenced boldly and was under restraint most of the way and was eased up right at the end, almost tossing the race awa . SEA STORY finished boldly; was bumped by SARDANEZA at the last fence, but recovered quickly and came again. SARDANEZA was well ridden, but tired. TEQUILA showed much speed and took the lead between calls. BUD-BUD was on the extreme outside at the eighth fence and his rider lost his stirrup irons after taking the elevnth jump and fell off on the flat. PROOF POSITIVE fell at the twelfth fence and DARKNESS was pulled up going to the fourteenth jump. TRAFFIC JUDGE shook off BAD AXE before they had gone an eighth and drew away on the far turn, but was tiring at the end. BAD AXE came again and finished strongly and was wearing down the winner. DONNA DEAR wont wide on the far turn, but cut across to the inside making the stretch turn. KERNEWOOD raced verv wide and was eased up in the last sixteenth. NIMBLY showed early speed. A dead heat was decided. PUNISHMENT came through on the inside entering the stretch. VERY HIGH tired at the end. STURDY tired. EILONA showed speed in spots.
