. I WOODBINE PARK NOTES $ «. TORONTO, Ont, May 23. Racing secretary F. J. Bryan received word from J. Fitzsimmons that Frisius would be shipped to Woodbine Park to fulfill his engagements for the Belair Stud. A pair of juveniles will be included in the shipment. The horses in charge of T. McCreery and A. G. Blakely were the latest arrivals from the metropolitan tracks in New York. W. Leonard has been appointed stable agent for J. C. Fletcher. Leonard will also make the riding engagements for F. Made-ley and G. Thompson. John Healey, son of T. J. Healey, head trainer for the C. V. Whitney stable, arrived with five racers that include Totem, Mar-lene, Rideaway, Even Up and Teach Me. Three of the number were scheduled to perform on the card arranged for the first day. Jockey A. Robertson has been engaged to ride one of the Seagram hopes in the renewal of the Kings Plate. Jockey I. Wren, who will perform with the steeplechase riders, was an arrival. A. T. Sansone has disposed of the plater Forbis to an unmentioned party. P. Remillard, who recently signed to ride for the Howe Stable, checked in from New York. Jockey E. Kummer was also an arrival, accompanied by P. Lipiec. Price McKinney, younger brother of Rigan McKinney, well known amateur rider, has notified Frank J. Bryan that he will make his debut as a steeplechase rider at the meeting at Brookline Park. The younger McKinney was presented with the good jumper Golden Gorse by his brother. Racing at Connaught Park is conducted under the auspices of the Canadian Racing Association, and the official family will be the same that served in recent years. Myron Davis has been assigned to handle the schooling classes at Thorncliffe Park. This innovation is for the convenience of horsemen that are stabled at the Leaside oval. Mortimer Mahoney and his assisent, Earl Walden, were arrivals from Baltimore, Md. Mr. Mahoney, who was in charge of the mutuel pavilion at the recent Hagerstown meeting, announced that the racing at that point was a huge success. Dave Rigg, ardent admirer of the thoroughbred, arrived from his home in Tim-mens, Ont., to remain for the remainder of the spring session at Woodbine. Steeplechase jockeys W. Sims and W. A. Collins, the latter under contract to the Dorwood Stable of Victor Emmanuel, made hurried trips from New York to ride in the Fraser Memorial Steeplechase. Due to contracting a heavy cold George M. Hendrie, vice-president of the Ontario Jockey Club, was forced to be an absentee at the opening. Mr. Hendrie is confined at his home in Hamilton, and more than likely will be unable to attend the racing session for the duration of the meeting. The Belair Stud of William Woodward furnished the winner of the introductory dash, styled the Trial Plate, Peto scoring by three lengths over Sun Craig, from the Seagram Stable, with Table Talk, from the Thorncliffe Stable, landing third. Noajoyce, after setting the early pace, was well beaten as he led the others. Lord Rockville carried the silks of R. H. , New to victory over a smart band of home-I bred juveniles that met in the four and one-half furlongs of the Goodwood Plate, which | was the second offering. Going into the lead at the rise of the barrier and showing a liking for the soft footing, Lord Rockville was able to dominate the running throughout to score in a drive. At the end he was just a neck before Anoka, from the River-dale Stable. Cudgeldoe landed third for R. S. McLaughlin. Jockey A. Abel, who is under contract to the Belair Stud of William Woodward, was an arrival from New York to augment the riding colony. Abel will ride Frisius in his engagements at Woodbine Park.
