The latter showed good speed throughout and, racing DEFIER into defeat, held on well. OVER TIME challenged gamely when called upon, but tired in the final drive. DEFIER showed a good performance throughout. IN COMMAND finished gamely after swerving. CONSUMMATION raced well. DINNER TIME showed speed. BROTHER JOE was blocked on the inside when moving up in th« final eighth. FLAG POLE began slowly and raced well in spots. The latter, under early restraint, moved up stoutly on the final turn of the field and finished fast. ARGONAUT responded well when called upon and finished stoutly. INDIGO was on tht outside of the leaders on the stretch turn. CAWVOGE tired. LAUFJUNGE was outrun. ICICLE showed a dull performance. IVORY n. showed poor speed. CREE raced well in spots. VALOROUS quit. CONTRITION had no mishaps. KINGS CRIER quit under pressure. ERNE II. had no mishaps. ROYAL FALCON landed badly at the fourth jump and was pulled up. MOKATAM moved up fast on the outside after the start, challenged gamely when called upon, but could not get up. AEGIS dwelt at the start, made up ground and finished well. CURATE quit after forcing the early pace and outlasted POLYDORUS. HER GRACE stumbled in the first sixteenth and unseated her rider.
