CHILE GOLD took the early lead and opened up a big advantage and was never threatened. CARUS CLARUS moved up on the outside leaving the back stretch, closed gamely in the stretch and held the ethers safe. BILL NORA, closest to the winner, tired in the closine strides. FAST STORM raced forwardly throughout. TUMBLING GLASS saved ground on the stretch turn and finished gamely. DARK CELT began test, but was unable to keep up. AIRDROME took the lead in the first eighth, saved ground throughout and, kept under pressure, outlasted SUN MAN. The latter, closest up throughout, was slowly overtaking the winner at the end. SERGEANT MAJOR, unable to reach the leaders, closed fast on the inside. LORD CARDIGAN, slow to leave the barrier, worked his way up and linished fast on the outside. MODEN moved up in menacing fashion near the quarter post, but tired. POSTVILLE showed early speed. NATURES DARLING finished fast in the last eighth. GEORGE DE MAR. saved behind the early pace, took the lead after passing the five-sixteenths post and, ridden out sharply at the end, easily held FRANK FULLEN safe. The latter, as usual, slow to get going, was blocked leaving the back stretch, and taken to the outside in the stretch, closed gamely. FRIAR CLIFF, outrun early, passed tiring horses in the stretch. AZIZ, rated off the early pace, moved up stoutly on the inside midway of the turn, responded gamely to punishment in the stretch, wore down FRENCH LASS in the last twenty yards and lasted to hold RUBIO. The latter began moving up leaving the back stretch, was taken to the outside of his field for the stretch run, closed gamely and just failed to get up. FRENCH LASS, drew away into a good lead after disposing of TETRARCHAL, but faltered in the closing sixteenth. STAR CREST linished going gamely. TABLE TALK tired after showing brief earlv speed. SUNNY PORT showed speed going down the back stretch, but tired in the last three eighths. EILONA was bothered at the first turn and had to be taken back. BRANCH, under restraint for the first three-quarters, worked his way up gradually leaving the back stretch, closed gamely under hard urging and outgamed OLD TIMES at the end. The latter, under restraint early, went to the front nearing the quarter post, held on well, but was not good enough. TRICKY COLONEL finished gamely through the stretch alter being taken back of the early pace for the first three quarters. UPPITY forced the early pace, but tired when the real racing began.
