t WASHINGTON PARK NOTES [ $ # HOMEWOOD, 111., June 4. J. G. Bussey was an arrival at Lincoln Fields with Fair Man, Purple Sage and Trouphy. Jockey L. "Lightning" Jones had his first mount of the meeting when he rode Pirogue in the opening race today. Dr. C. N. Finch, veterinary surgeon of Jeffersonville, Ind., was called here to render professional services and goes to Belmont Park Sunday. Maurice L. Galvin, vice president of the Latonia Jockey Club, is expected here tomorrow, coming from his home at Covington, Ky. From reports sent here by Mr. Galvin, the coming Latonia meeting opening on Saturday, June 27, has every chance to prove one of the most successful in several years at that popular Kentucky course. So great has been the demand for stable room that a number of new stables may be added to the many at Latonia. Additional barns could be constructed in about ten days time. Mr. Galvin will take up the stable question with Col. M. J. Winn, executive director of Latonia, at Washington Park Saturday. Proteus, A. Pelleteris good son of Infinite, and champion juvenile of the New Orleans racing season, is under preparation at Lincoln Fields for the ,000 added Thomas Cur-ran Memorial Stakes, to be run at Washington Park on June 13. He breezed five-eighths in 1:04 today. The Curran Memorial will engage all the leading western juvenile colts and geldings at five and one-half furlongs. Conscience, the Hamburg Places eligible for the American Derby, worked one mile in 1:43%, handily, at Lincoln Fields today. He ran the quarter in :23, half mile in :48 and three-quarters in 1:14%. Barring accident the Audley Farms Gallant Knight, now at Belmont Park for Saturdays running of the Suburban Handicap, will leave that New York track for Washington Park on Sunday and on June 27 contests the Francis S. Peabody Memorial Handicap at the Homewood course. Jimmy Moran, M. Goldblatts candidate for the latter 0,000 added fixture, worked a mile in 1:43, handily, at Washington Park today. Gallaher and Combs Back Log, which only recently returned to training following a long rest to permit his complete recovery from the effects of early spring illness, was breezed three-eighths in :38% at Washington Park this morning. Charles Nuckols, owner of Cousin Jo and prominent breeder of Versailles, Ky., arrived today and will remain to witness the performance of his Cousin Jo probable favorite in the Illinois Oaks on Saturday. Jockey J. Guerra, who scales 102 pounds and rode five winners Preakness day at Pimlico, has engaged Robert Bolton, former race rider to make his engagements. The stable of F. A. Carreaud and Jack Howard, one of the largest and well balanced, engaged in the Washington Park racing, goes to Latonia for the summer meeting at that track. The best of the Carreaud-Howard horses are eligible for various of the stakes to be renewed. Col. P. T. Chinn, Kentucky owner and breeder, put in his first appearance of the Chicago season. He came from Lexington and will remain for several days. He has Kings Navy here in charge of Clyde Van Dusen and several horses in training at the Lexington track. Clyde Phillips released C. E. Allen from his engagement to ride Sunny Lassie in the Illinois Oaks and will bring George Ellis here from Belmont Park to ride the daughter of Sun Flag in that stake Saturday. Phillips and Ellis will arrive here tomorrow. W. Fronk reported that C. T. Fishers Cee Tee, which emerged from the third race with several bad cuts about the right side at the stifle, received the injuries when he struck the rail on the stretch turn.
