ETONARDO IN FAST TIME * Establishes New Mile Record of 1:37 % in Winning Feature. ♦ Displays Improved Form and High Order of Speed to Beat Come On, With Pa- trieia Marian Saving Third. » CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 4.— F. Serembas Etonardo showed a return to his best form when he made a runaway of the Lakeshore Purse, the fifth race which served as the principal attraction at Bainbridge Park this afternoon. He covered the mile in 1:37%, establishing a new track record for the mile, reducing the former mark one-fifth of a second, which was jointly held by Crash, Genuine and Dinah Did Upset. Hypolu::o and Patricia Marian were in closest pursuit of Etonardo until midway of the stretch, where Come On moved up with a rush on the outside, taking second place with much to spare. Patricia Marian barely saved thiid by a head. She was doing her V best to btall off Gideon and Vacation at the N end. Hypoluxo tired badly through the final furlongs. Rain threatened during much of the afternoon, but it did not materialize until the horses wore parading for the sixth race. Fol- -lowing the running of this event an electric storm broke over the course and rain came down in torrents. The closing race was run 35 ■ over a sloppy track. The attendance was of usual mid-week day proportions. Norse overhauled Fairyman and Eloise while rounding the stretch turn in the sixth I race and Jrew clear during the final furlong I to eventually win handily. Steadily improving her petition after rounding the far turn, 1 Princess Dare eventually outstayed Fairy- I man, the early leader, for second. Eloise went well to the final furlong and then If Jj| in tired. Faylin was hustled into the lead shortly after the start in the initial dash and was f. closely pressed by Quick Thinker and ■ Lanier to the far turn. Faylin then drew * clear of her opponents and retained a com- l v fortable lead all through the stretch. Lanier 6 had no opposition for second after Quick Thinker retired from the struggle on entering the stretch. My Companion raced over 1 the others into third position in the stretch. After racing in a contending position con- v testing the leadership until well into the stretch with Venarock in the second race, Best Maifou took a slight lead inside the t final furlong, which she maintained to the f end. It marked her maiden victory. Saving ground during the stretch run enabled Amour to secure second from the fast finish- , ing Perfect Alibi in a drive after the latter had suffered interference a furlong out. ] Another rousing finish came with the run- j ning of the third race. Marmitina showed % the way, with Sporting Maudie close up until reaching the final sixteenth. Under a ■ powerful finish by Pendergrass. Sporting J Maudie responded gamely to urging and ,, wore down Marmitina during the last few yards to win by a neck. Marmitina was best of the others. Flair, Miss Kiluna and Sun Bonny staged a real duel for the minor I award and Flair was awarded the verdict hy the shortest of margins. 1 HbClosin up strongly on the outside while -Kmndint; the turn for home, Vanquish over- . Riauled the flying leader Aurica midway of J Fthe stretch in the fourth race, and the pair staged another thrilling duel for supremacy. Vanquish proved the gamer in the final test. . After being blocked when he attempted - to slip through next to the inner rail at the stretch turn, Bosky continued gamely, finishing a creditable third. Thistle Dee went well to the stretch, then quit badly.
