TO BE SEEN AT ARLINGTON Siskin Among G. W. Wingfield Horses Destined for Classic and Other Valuable Stakes. Siskin, hero of last Julys revival of the Hyde Park Stakes at Arlington, also of an Agua Caliente Futurity and a Joliet Handicap at Lincoln Fields, is among the G. W. Wingfield horses to race at Arlington Park. He may be ready for the Arlington Inaugural Handicap, a dash of seven furlongs that will gross 1,000 or more, June 29, the first day of the north side meeting of thirty days. His chief objective is the rich Classic. Siskin went sore in the shoulders at Laurel last October, after winning a sprint of six furlongs under 124 pounds in 1:12 flat, and did not make the Pimlico Futurity either. There hasnt been anything seriously wrong with him this year, although trainer Carman hoped when he got up to Maryland from Florida in April to have him ready for the Kentucky Derby. Epinard is the daddy of Siskin, which, after Epithet, conqueror of Jamestown in last years Hopeful at Saratoga, was the most succesful of the French stallions first crop of American-bred two-year-olds. Carman and his father, Richard Carman Sr., contended last year that Siskin was better than any two-year-old they had seen. Young Carman is not certain the son of Epinard and Ruddy Light will whip either Jamestown or Twenty Grand over a distance of ground this season, but he believes he can take the measure of such as Mate, Sweep All, A La Carte, Pittsburgher, Insco, Burning Up, Anchors Aweigh and Surf Board. None of the most promising two-year-olds of the Wingfield Stable have been hurried this season as Siskin and Tarpaulin were last season. They have been saved for Arlington racing. The best colts on private work are Hygro, Menelek, Mueller, Shiva and Vishnu. All are in the 0,000 Hyde Park, all but Menelek are in the Post and Paddock, which may top 0,000 getaway day — August 1. Shiva has started once, Mueller twice, the others not at all. Hygro, a sorrel son of Epinard and Ruddy Light, is a brother of Siskin and is bigger. Siskin has always been on the small side, although for his height he has plenty of bulk. Vishnu, a son of Ladkin and Valley of the Moon, is bred like the Futurity winners Mother Goose and Whichone. Menelek, a son of General Thatcher, sire of Tambour, is a half-brother to Montello and Lady Myra. Billie Dove, dam of Shiva whose daddy is Chilhowee, is a half-sister of General Thatcher and General Diskin. The two best Wingfield fillies, both of which are in the 0,000 Lassie, are Biela, a daughter of Supremus and Washoe Belle, and Lady General, a daughter of General Thatcher and Lady Waldeck. Neither has raced. « .
