DUFFERIN TRACK POPULAR Famous Toronto Course Attracts Capacity Crowd on Opening Day — Omareen Scores in Handicap. TORONTO, Ont., June 13.— A typical Duf-ferin Park crowd that taxed every inch of the plant to capacity, was on hand to welcome back the thoroughbreds to "Little Saratoga." Long before post time for the opening race, the crowd began to gather, and it was practically next to impossible to move about the main enclosure when the bugle sounded for the parade to the post. For the first Saturday since racing returned to Toronto, the weather was ideal for the sport. Heading the opening days program was the Maxie Rosenbloom Handicap, a seven furlongs race, which attracted six of the best thoroughbreds quartered at the track to strive for a purse of ,200. The winner turned up in Omareen, racing for C. N. Mooney. Ryland H. News Ay-mond raced to second place, with third going to A. Hullcoats Allanah. Well back of these came Black Patricia, Nae Breeks and Aziz, to finish in the order named. The riding of the winner was entrusted to C. Ralls, who, incidentally, made it his second successful ride of the afternoon, having previously captured first honors with Golden Storm in the juvenile event of the afternoon. Omareen was under restraint in the early stages, while Nae Breeks and Aziz were fighting it out for the leadership. After the first three furlongs had been covered Ralls took the Mooney standardbearer to the inside and bided his time. Meanwhile Pollard, on Nae Breeks, had gone a trifle wide and carried Aziz with him. Ralls, quick to take advantage, roused Omareen with the whip and quickly went into the lead. Omareen continued to increase his advantage with every stride thereafter, and was under restraint as the finish was reached. Nae Breeks and Aziz tired after their display of speed. Aymond, which had been reserved back of the pace, came gamely in the stretch, while Allanah had no trouble in beating home Black Patricia.
