SHIPPING FROM LOUISVILLE Few Remaining Stables at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park to Move Over to Latonia. LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 13.— The few racing stables that remained at Douglas Park and Churchill Downs after the close of the spring meeting will depart for Latonia about June 20. The summer meeting at the Covington track gets under way on Saturday, June 27, and if the turfmen who laid up their strings here get away on schedule time they will be in ample time for the opening days sport. The Latonia Derby candidate of Mrs. J. T. Chawk, Birthday Gift, will be one of the seven head that Frank P. Letellier will send to Latonia. This gelding, which formerly belonged to Mrs. Chawk and A. V. Thomas in joint partnership, was acquired by purchase of the half interest of Thomas by Mrs. Chawk, and he was turned over to Letellier to fit for his Latonia Derby engagement. Letellier will take Royal Sport, Mince Pie, Bobby Powers, Spanish Flirt, Polylith and Newburger, hi3 own racing stock, to the Covington course. George V. Barnes will ship his horses and those he is training for Walter I. Kohn and C. L. Graf to Latonia with the Letellier string. Whisk Arrow, Elnora M., Gammers Son and Carrie Etta are the property of Mr. Barnes, while Prince Megan is the Kohn representative, and Lady Versonia is the Graf member of the Barnes Stable. Mr. Graf, who lives in New Albany, Ind., is a newcomer to the sport of racing and is in the market for several more horses to sport his colors. Joe Umensetter expects to send four horses to Latonia about June 20. Dan Lehan, with eleven head, including Elizabeth Kennedy, Bernice Van, Top Hat-tie, Queen Sara and Bronze Bird, is due to ship about June 22, and at the same time R. P. Brooks will send Mrs. R. P. Brooks Latonia Derby candidate. Jolly Dolle, the unsexed son of Selim — Thaka, with Loretta B. to the Covington track. David R. Castleman has turned out his two-year-old son of Tryster— Wavering, Ben Erskine, which is a half brother to the one time crack racer, Captain Hal, until the fall season of racing opens. Freddie Morris got away the first part of the week from Douglas Park with the three-year-olds Mouth Piece and Charlie K. and a big band of two-year-olds he had in training for Mose Lowenstein, bound for Chicago. Trainer E. J. Leet of the Judge James P. Edwards Stable expects to ship the two-year-olds Blue Way, King Cardinal and Gingham Way to Latonia from the Downs shortly. The big band of two-year-olds of the Audley Farm Stable are to be sent to Latonia to join the thoroughbreds that trainer Spence has at the Covington course. George V. Barnes has five mares at his Barnsdale Farm that have foaled this spring, the latest a chestnut colt by Whisk-away— Megan, arriving on June 4. She will be bred to W. F. Axtons In Memoriam, sire of Pittsburgher, the American Derby candidate of Theodore E. Mueller. Cynthia Grey has a filly by For Fair, which is a bay in color. She has been bred to United Verde.
