Start good out of machine. Won easily ; second and third driving. GALA FLIGHT, fractious at the post, where he straddled one of the walls of the stalls and unseating W. Fronk, cantered off three eighths, but began well and, keeping within striking distance while in close quarters on the inside for five sixteenths, raced into the lead with a rush when clear entering the stretch and won thereafter, but had little left. PRINCE ASCOT began fast, saved ground after reaching the turn and held on fairly well. F. GRABNER, shuffled back, was bumped on the stretch turn and closed fast after going to the inside ESSENTIAL, close up, had no mishaps PIETRO was weakly ridden. LOJO raced wide. JUXTAPOSITION showed speed and went very wide on the stretch turn. ULUNTU, close up from the start and forced wide on the turn, slowly worked his way into the lead when straightened out in the stretch and, holding on well, held a short advantage over GOLD STEP in the final eighth. The latter forced the early pace under restraint, took the lead briefly and continued gamely after being headed. BEST MAN, in close quarters most of the way, saved ground on the turn and tired after five eighths, but outstayed the others. BLACK COMET, close up throughout, tired in the final drive. ELLICE began fast, showed speed under energetic riding, but quit badly. HOT SHOT was done after reaching the stretch. SUITOR, hard urged to the last half mile, swerved badly in the stretch. ALBAZANO, fractious at the post, began well, was forced back on the turn and tired in the final drive. GOLD MINT quit. WASHINGTON PARK Continued from third page. TANNERY, much the best, but greatly benefited through being taken across sharply to the inside in the first quarter, drew away fast after reaching the stretch and won easily. BROWN WISDOM, forced back by the winner shortly after the start, recovered quickly, saved ground thereafter and, holdine on well, outstayed PAUL BUNYAN. The latter met interference from ESKIMO on the far turn, went to the outside in the stretch, where he closed with a rush and worked out seven eighths in 1:28. SATIN SPAR met early interference and tired in the stretch. ESKIMO crossed to the inside sharply on the turn and dropped far out of it in the stretch. The latter began fast, raced into the turn on the outside, crossed to the inside when drawing clear in the stretch and held on well, but was not good enough. SUNS SON, in close quarters on the turn, was cut off entering the stretch and closed fast under pressure. PRINCE HOTSPUR began slowly and closed fast. BARASHKOVA raced evenly. TELLICO tired after taking the lead in the stretch. BAND TIME showed speed under strong urging, was forced wide on the stretch turn and quit. PRINCE FARTHING was pinched back in the first quarter.
