STEWARDS RULE AGAINST SMITH NEW ORLEANS, La., Jan. 4. The following ruling was announced by the stewards at Jefferson Park today: "For practices detrimental to the best interests of racing, trainer C. O. Smith is ruled off the course." Smith was the trainer of Dark Simon,-which died shortly after filling an engagement at Jefferson Park two weeks ago.
