OROFTON SPIKES RUMOR AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, Jan. 4. For some unknown reason unofficial rumor has been circulated that the Agua Caliente Handicap, climaxing feature of the winter season, has been called off. When the report reached the ears of president James N. Crofton he immediately spiked it, saying, "We have no intention of calling off the Agua Caliente Handicap, but the purse has been cut from 00,000 added to 0,000 added. All I can say is that it is a ridiculous report and has absolutely no foundation."
