LUCILLE K. began green, but settled into her best stride quickly and, showing much speed, took command in the first eighth and outlasted CHUCK B. The latter, quickest to start and prominent throughout, challenged gamely in the stretch, but could not get up. HILDUR ROCK, hard ridden from the start, finished resolutely and wore down PRINCESS VAL in the closing strides. The latter had no excuses. FRANKIE MAE and IREDELL raced green. SUNNY SUSAN came through between the leaders on the turn, then responded gamely and disposed of the tiring REGAL KNIGHT in the closing eighth. REGAL KNIGHT, a fast starter, took command at once and showed much early speed, then tired fast. WINNIE C. finished resolutely on the outside. CHATTAHOOCHEE held on well in the final drive. DEEMSTER outbroke the others, but was used up racing LAWYER into defeat in the early stages, then tired. LAWYER showed good speed, took command midway around the turn, then tired as if short. CRACK PLAY began slowly and was cut off on the back stretch, but closed resolutely on the outside. MARABOU had no excuses. BACKFIRE was eased up when beaten.
