SALE OF J. LEITER HORSES All but Prince Hotspur and Prince D Amour to Be Sold at Churchill Downs May 6. The executors of the estate of Joseph Leiter, whose recent death is greatly deplored, have instructed C. J. FitzGerald to sell all the horses that raced in the colors of the late Chicago sportsman, with the exception of the Derby and Preakness candidates, Prince Hotspur and Prince D Amour, who will be offered after they have fulfilled their engagements in these classics, in accordance with the wishes of Mrs. Leiter. Through the courtesy of Col. Matt Winn, the sale will be held in the paddock at Churchill Downs Friday, May 6, beginning at 12 oclock the day before the running of the Kentucky Derby. The stars of the sale will be the beautiful fillies Princess Camelia and Princess Ivre, both stake winners last year at two, and among the smartest of their sex this season. There was no gamer two-year-old in 1931 than Princess Camelia, who in fifteen starts won seven races, was second in two and third in three. Her victories included the Dearborn Handicap at Lincoln Fields, worth ,490, and the Kentucky Claiming Stakes at Saratoga, value, ,775. Her seconds were in the ,000 Autumn Junior Handicap, beaten a neck and the Troy Claiming Stakes, beaten half a length. At Arlington Park she defeated, among others. Indian Runner, who was second to Top Flight in the Saratoga Special, and for which 5,000 was offered following that race. At the recent Fair Grounds meeting in New Orleans, Princess Camelia was only a beaten a neck, finishing in front of Sarietta, Prince Hotspur, Espinaca and Busted. Princess Ivre, like Princess Camelia, Is a daughter of Royal Canopy. She won three races, was second in four and third in two last year. In winning the Hinata Stakes, worth ,640 at Lexington, she was timed in :53% for the four and a half furlongs, and beat the good fillies Butter Beans and Modern Queen, both stake winners. In another race at the same distance, she equalled the track record of :53s. Princess Ivre has not started this season, but has shown well. Both Princess Ivre and Princess Camelia have value for the stud, the former being from Exalted Ruler, by Superman, one of the best sons of Ultimus, whose mares are held in high regard, while the latter is from Sunmelia, by Sun Briar, next dam Brom-elia, by Whisk Broom II. Of the other three-year-olds, Princess Crusader, Princess A. O., Princess A. A. and Prince Farthing are winners in good company, the latter taking the Crystal Spring Purse of ,000 at the Fair Grounds last winter, when he defeated such clever performers as Bar Hunter, Pietro, Sergt. Donaldson, Smear and Sir Kendal. Owing to Mr. Leiters illness at New Orleans, the dozen two-year-olds in the stable were trained but little, and only two were sent to the post. There are four colts, three geldings and five fillies by such representative sires as Royal Canopy, Dunlin, Dominant and Westwick. All are from well-bred mares, many of them the dams of good winners. The horses are quartered at Churchill Downs in care of trainer N. K. Beal. who will be glad to show them to prospective purchasers. ยป
