MANNAMEADS DEFECTION Special Correspondence. LONDON. England.— Those who were surprised to find Lord Astors good colt, Man-namead, left in the Derby field when the March acceptance for that classic was declared, were not surprised to hear that the son of Manna was taken out of the Epsom classic recently. Joe Lawson, the Manton trainer, found it impossible to condition Mannamead, and have him ready for the Derby. Every effort will be made to bring the son of Manna back to the races, and hopes are held that he may be in the field for the St. Leger Stakes at Doncaster next September. »
